The Rainbow Bridge is a non-commercial border crossing that links the city centers of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York. Designed primarily for tourists and personal travel, it offers scenic views and direct access to both downtown districts. Commercial trucks are prohibited, making it a preferred route for private vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.
The crossing is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round. On the U.S. side, there are 18 inspection lanes, while the Canadian side operates 15. NEXUS lanes are available in both directions, though they may not be open at all times. A Ready Lane for travelers with RFID-enabled documents typically operates Monday through Thursday. Tour buses are accommodated with designated lanes.
Travel demand is highest from May through September, with Fridays being the most congested. Delays of up to two hours are not uncommon during peak periods.
