Good Caring Canada is an independent digital publication committed to helping Canadians better understand and navigate the systems that shape care and daily life. Through journalism that is accurate, compassionate, and grounded in real-world experience, we aim to inform, empower, and connect.
We report on the structures, institutions, and everyday conditions that influence how Canadians live, care, and connect. Our journalism combines accountability reporting with constructive storytelling, offering both critical insight and hopeful perspective. We seek to highlight not only the gaps in care, but also the innovation, resilience, and leadership that emerge across the country—from frontline workers and families to community organizers and public institutions.
Our work is produced by a multidisciplinary editorial team that brings together journalists, healthcare professionals, policy researchers, and data scientists. This mix of expertise enables us to pair strong narrative reporting with analytical rigour and real-world grounding. We are supported by a growing network of contributors, advisors, and readers who share observations from the ground to help us build a more informed and caring Canada.
A Note on Authorship and Anonymity
Most of our articles are published without individual bylines. This reflects two guiding editorial principles:
- Collaborative Reporting: Our stories are frequently shaped by multiple contributors—journalists, editors, subject-matter experts, and community members. By removing individual names, we place emphasis on the strength, accuracy, and integrity of the reporting rather than on any single voice.
- Merit Over Prestige: Inspired by the editorial model of The Economist, we believe journalism should be judged on its content—not on personality or authorship. This approach fosters collective responsibility and editorial accountability across our newsroom.
In certain cases—such as opinion essays or externally authored contributions—individual names may be included to ensure transparency of perspective.
We also uphold strict standards of confidentiality. Many of those who share insights with us—including patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and institutional staff—do so at personal or professional risk. We are committed to protecting their privacy. No identifying information is ever published without explicit consent, and anonymous submissions are handled with the utmost care and discretion.
Editorial Oversight and Focus
Our editorial direction is overseen by a senior team responsible for ensuring quality, accuracy, and alignment with our mission. Core areas of coverage include:
- Mapped & Measured – Data-informed coverage of wait times, access, and care disparities
- Places – In-depth reviews of healthcare environments and community-based services
- Things To Do and Best of Canada – Curated events, public resources, and stories that celebrate resilience and excellence
We also produce investigative reports, regional coverage, and practical guides for families, caregivers, and care workers across Canada.
